Miracles That Changed the World: The Birth and Life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.”

[Quran, Surah At-Tawbah, 9:128]

✨ Miracles That Marked His Birth ✨

Born in the sacred lunar month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, on a day unlike any other, his arrival illuminated a world steeped in darkness. With his birth, the very course of history shifted forever. The finest of creation was sent to humanity—to realign hearts, reform societies, and deliver divine guidance straight from the Creator to His servants.

🌙 A Night Filled With Divine Light 🌙

On a luminous Monday night, over fourteen centuries ago, a noble and chosen woman—Āminah bint Wahb—gave birth during the Year of the Elephant. The renowned Hadith scholar Imam al-Bayhaqī narrates through his chain to ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ, who reported from his mother:

“That night, as Āminah gave birth to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, everything within the house glowed with light. I saw the stars draw so close that I feared they might fall upon me.”

It was a night when the heavens themselves seemed to rejoice.

🏰 Thrones Tremble, Fires Are Extinguished 🏰

Remarkable signs echoed across the world at the moment his blessed soul ﷺ entered it. Makhzūm ibn Hāni’ al-Makhzūmī, narrating from his father—then over 150 years old—reported:

“On the night the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was born, the palace of Khosrow shook violently and fourteen of its pillars collapsed. The Sacred Fire of Persia, burning for a thousand years, was suddenly extinguished. The river of Saveh dried and vanished into the earth.”

Power structures trembled, falsehood dimmed, and truth prepared to rise.

🕊️ The Blessedness of Mondays 🕊️

When asked about fasting on Mondays, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“That is the day on which I was born and the day on which revelation first descended upon me.”

Ibn ʿAbbās further reported:

“Your Prophet ﷺ was born on a Monday, received revelation on a Monday, migrated on a Monday, entered Madinah on a Monday, and passed away on a Monday.”

Mondays became forever sanctified through him ﷺ.

🌟 Signs Witnessed at His Birth 🌟

From his earliest moments, miracles surrounded him ﷺ. The historian Muhammad ibn Isḥāq records that when the newborn Prophet ﷺ was placed on the ground, he prostrated to Allah.

In keeping with Meccan customs, women attempted to place a cooking pot over him—but it mysteriously moved away. They found him gazing calmly toward the sky, serene and composed, as if already connected to the unseen.

One week later, during a celebratory feast, the Quraysh asked his grandfather ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib about the child’s name. When he replied “Muhammad”, they questioned why an unfamiliar name was chosen. He responded:

“I desire that Allah praises him in the heavens and that His creation praises him on earth.”

Some scholars say this choice was divinely inspired.

🌸 His Beauty and Presence 🌸

As he grew, his beauty and excellence only deepened. Even before prophethood, he stood apart—captivating hearts effortlessly. Words fall short in describing him ﷺ, for how can creation fully praise one whom Allah Himself praised?

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
“Indeed, you are upon an عظیم character.”
(Qur’an 68:4)

🌕 His Face and Noble Appearance 🌕

From Ash-Shamā’il al-Muhammadiyyah, we learn that he ﷺ was of moderate height, neither tall nor short. His complexion was radiant—not pale nor dark. His hair lay between wavy and straight.

At the time of his passing ﷺ, though over sixty, he had fewer than twenty grey hairs. His eyes were deep black with long lashes; his face round and glowing like the full moon. He had a broad mouth, thick beard, and dignified presence that left a lasting impression on all who saw him.

🔖 The Seal of Prophethood 🔖

Between his shoulder blades rested the Seal of Prophethood, resembling a raised mark like the knot of a cloak. His shoulders were broad, his palms wide, and his hands strong yet gentle.

He walked with purpose, as though descending gently downhill—as if the earth itself was eased beneath his steps ﷺ.

👕 Simplicity in Dress 👕

The Prophet ﷺ wore whatever was available. He loved modest garments—robes, cloaks, mantles—whether Yemeni or desert-made. He neither sought luxury nor rejected lawful comforts. Simplicity was his way, humility his adornment.

🛡️ Courage & Trustworthiness 🛡️

His bravery ﷺ was unmatched. Companions said:

“When battle intensified, we would shield ourselves behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”

Before Islam, people trusted him completely. They would say:

“Entrust your wealth to Muhammad—he never betrays. Seek truth from him—he never lies.”

His generosity placed others before himself.

📖 The Living Qur’an 📖

When ʿĀ’ishah (RA) was asked about his character, she replied:

“His character was the Qur’an.”

He lived every command and avoided every prohibition. Truthfulness, mercy, justice, humility, patience, wisdom—his life was the Qur’an in motion.

💔 Trials Met With Mercy 💔

Orphaned early, mocked, accused, abused—yet never bitter. Despite hardship, his heart overflowed with mercy. He prayed for those who harmed him and worried deeply for humanity’s guidance.

He was the mercy the world desperately needed.

🌍 Mercy for All Creation 🌍

His compassion extended even to animals. Once, a bird fluttered distressed before him ﷺ when her egg was taken. Upon learning this, he immediately ordered the egg returned.

At a time when humans were denied mercy, he ﷺ championed kindness—for people, animals, and all creation.

🤍 His Love for His Ummah 🤍

🌟 His Intercession

He ﷺ said:

“Every Prophet has one supplication that is answered. I have saved mine to intercede for my Ummah on the Day of Judgment.”
(Bukhari)

🙏 His Duʿā’ for Us

He prayed for his Ummah in every prayer, never forgetting us—long before we were born.

🫂 “I Wish to Meet My Brothers” 🫂

The Prophet ﷺ once said:

“I wish I could meet my brothers.”

The companions asked, “Are we not your brothers?”

He replied:

“You are my companions. My brothers are those who believe in me without ever seeing me.”

🌺 Final Reflection 🌺

Allah blessed us with Islam, guided us through the Qur’an, and showed us how to live through Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

To know him, love him, and follow his way is not only a duty—it is an honor.

Remember: someone loved you, prayed for you, cried for you, and protected your faith—before you ever existed.

May we live by his Sunnah, spread his message, and be reunited with him in the Hereafter ﷺ.
